Rangers youngster Callum Burnside has penned a new contract extension with the club.
The midfielder’s deal will now run until the 2026/27 campaign, with an option to extend for a further year.
Burnside is presently out on loan at Alloa Athletic.
A Northern Ireland under-19 international, he registered seven goal involvements in as many appearances for Rangers’ under-19s before securing a temporary move to Scottish League One.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have extended my contract at the club,” Burnside told Rangers’ official website after putting pen to paper.
“It’s a proud day for me and my family, and I’m grateful to the club for the faith they’ve shown in me.
“As a boyhood fan, it is a privilege every single day to pull on the jersey, and although I know there’s still a lot of hard work ahead, I’m ready to give everything to keep improving and make the most of this opportunity.”
Burnside has made two appearances since joining Alloa earlier this month, registering one assist in that spell.
Rangers maintain a partnership agreement with the third-tier side, however, since the 18-year-old hails from Northern Ireland, his move is a straightforward loan until January.
Burnside’s coach with Rangers’ under-19s, Stevie Smith, will oversee the first team’s fixture against Dundee United at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
He is scheduled to address the media at a press conference tomorrow at 9am, followed by a player appearance at 9.15am.
Smith will be supported by Brian Gilmour, Rhys Owen, and Sal Bibbo.
