Christantus Uche is expected to remain at Crystal Palace at least until the end of the season.
Standard Sport reports that there are no intentions to terminate the 22-year-old’s loan, despite him receiving limited playing time since his summer deadline day move from Getafe.
Uche joined Palace on loan with an obligation to purchase if he makes 10 Premier League starts for the Eagles, but has so far featured for just 44 minutes amid their strong early-season form under Oliver Glasner.
The Nigerian forward made a positive impact off the bench during Palace’s 2-1 victory over Fulham last weekend, and it is understood that despite the limited minutes, Uche is keen to remain at Palace and help them push for a Champions League spot.
Palace currently sit fourth in the Premier League, having lost only three of their opening 15 fixtures.
Glasner will be short on attacking options should Ismaila Sarr recover from an ankle ligament injury and head to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Senegal.
Uche, however, is unlikely to receive a call-up from Nigeria, having been left out of last month’s squad for their World Cup play-off matches against Gabon and DR Congo.
Glasner has requested additional attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window but will have been impressed by Uche’s 24-minute cameo at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
With 23 league fixtures remaining, there is still time for Uche to force his way into the Austrian’s plans.
