As you likely know, Leicester City overcame a solid travelling Stoke City outfit at home on Saturday afternoon, thankfully. We generally regard the Potters highly as they are a similarly sized, gritty and stubborn team to overcome like ourselves.
So securing three points against the visitors is rarely straightforward. It is certainly not simple to claim an away triumph at the bet365 Stadium either, for that matter. Manager Mark Robins, formerly of LCFC, organises his squad effectively.
Therefore the Foxes inevitably have veteran, current first-choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to appreciate for their weekend success. That was a first triumph for LCFC at King Power Stadium in roughly three months.
City were eventually victorious thanks to two somewhat unexpected strikes from underperforming pair Stephy Mavididi and Patson Daka on the afternoon. A battle-hardened and just about merited win for the East Midlands side.
But a section of the more outspoken supporters who travelled down from Staffordshire appear to be out of touch with the footballing reality and were not impressed with a particular Fox.
And this surely tiny yet embarrassing portion of the Potters fanbase actually targeted their own former player and Leicester’s Man of the Match, Begovic. But why did they insult the stopper? And why was it especially awkward?

Begovic produced some excellent saves against Stoke; he did everything a goalkeeper is expected to do to secure a victory. Consequently being attacked on social media is an insult to all the respectable SCFC supporters out there!
What do Stoke fans expect Begovic to do – throw the ball into his own net for them?! Should he Back down to a forward attempting to intimidate or hurt him in the challenge?! Pathetic. The phrase sour grapes comes to mind.
If their team were winning and began time-wasting etcetera, they would and do champion it. Hypocritical. They also seemed annoyed that he clapped them – a gentlemanly gesture.
It seems like Potters away support want things handed to them. And when it doesn’t go their way, they make infantile, sanctimonious and inaccurate accusations online. I would advise them to grow up – but it wouldn’t help.
