On-loan Celtic striker Tomas Cvancara’s agent has fired back at Czech Republic boss Miroslav Koubek after his client was left out of the national squad.
Koubek omitted the Borussia Mönchengladbach forward from the upcoming clash against the Republic of Ireland, citing Cvancara’s earlier comments that the national team was not his “priority” (he wants to focus more on club football to build his career).
David Nehoda, Cvancara’s agent, took to X to defend the striker, insisting the manager’s reasoning was “completely misleading and taken entirely out of context.”

In his statement, Nehoda wrote:
“No one from the national team’s management is in contact with Tomas, nor has anyone been. It strikes me as very strange to draw information about a player and his current situation at the club solely from the media. Was Tomas supposed to tell the fans that, after just 3 games for Celtic, the national team is his priority?? WTF.”
Since arriving in January, Cvancara has made an immediate impact, scoring twice in home victories against Falkirk and Motherwell. He also netted the decisive penalty that sent Celtic through to the Scottish Cup semi-final at Ibrox, knocking Rangers out in the process.
