BREAKING — Veteran €5m rated Striker closing in on Rangers transfer move after verbally agreeing to a £30,000-a-week deal to complete move with new owner ready to splash big to make his club compete in big competitions again

Super Eagles and Rangers forward, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, is nearing a transfer to 13-time Greek Champions, AEK Athens, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old striker joined Ibrox in the summer of 2023, signing with the record Scottish Champions for €5m on a four-year contract.

Life in Scotland has been inconsistent for Dessers, as he won over half the Rangers supporters, while the other half were eager to see him leave due to the frustration of watching the former Cremonese forward miss opportunities.

However, Dessers’ goalscoring record at Rangers is respectable. He’s found the back of the net 51 times and provided 16 assists for his teammates in 109 matches across all competitions.

The 1.85-m tall forward is now contemplating a future away from Rangers, who are experiencing significant changes this summer. They’ve been taken over by new owners (the 49ers) and appointed a new manager (Russell Martin).

According to the Daily Record, AEK Athens have made the Super Eagles striker their top target this summer, with their new owner prepared to invest heavily to ensure his club competes in major tournaments again.

Dessers has verbally agreed to a £30,000-a-week deal with the Greek Champions that will see him earn approximately 1.8 million euros annually. The only remaining details of the transfer involve negotiations with Rangers. For the striker, the move is all but confirmed.

Should a transfer to Greece materialize for Dessers, he’ll join forces with former Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial, and former Tottenham midfielder, Erik Lamela.
