It appears that Leicester City owner Aiyawatt ‘Khun Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has opted against making a bold, substantial, and arguably essential shift at the top of the organization. Expectations and criticisms had director of football Jon Rudkin squarely in the crosshairs as the likely scapegoat for LCFC’s current escalating issues.
Alas, a recent statement from the latest Foxes manager Marti Cifuentes has nearly confirmed Rudkin’s ongoing prominent presence on Filbert Way.
And, trust me, the majority of Leicester’s Blue Army fan base will not be thrilled! Although the sparkle and potential of a new head coach have diverted some focus from Khun Top’s apparent favored executive.
But life continues. Amid discussions of the DoF, Cifuentes was also questioned about potential upcoming City transfer dealings. And goodness, the East Midlanders urgently need a few new faces. Without offloading a few assets, though, prospects of additions seem limited. Regardless, the 43-year-old was particularly guarded in his reply. Let’s dive in.
Marti Cifuentes’ reticence:
It’s no shock that the Catalan was reserved when it came to possibly discussing signings. Though he did suggest arrivals in the near future.
In addition to that, Cifuentes also briefly described the recruitment process at King Power Stadium. He acknowledged that he is keenly aware that the situation requires resolution. This will provide scant reassurance to City supporters.

While addressing possible acquisitions and loans, but not naming anyone, Cifuentes unintentionally disclosed something. Many LCFC fans have been eagerly awaiting news of Rudkin’s departure. Checking their phones for updates daily.
“What is clear is that I will not speculate much about things that are not 100% clear,” Cifuentes said.
“What is sure is that me, the club, with Jon [director of football Jon Rudkin] and the ownership, we have good conversations about possible scenarios and I’m fully aware of the situation.” [Marti Cifuentes, via BBC Sport]
Yet that update never materialized. And Cifuentes recently admitted to being in consultation with the former over potential recruiting. This leads us to conclude that Rudkin will be present for at least one more season.
