Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly increasingly tempted to approve a January departure for winger Brennan Johnson amid growing interest from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old has completed a full 90 minutes in the league on just two occasions this season and was limited to a brief 10-minute outing as Spurs were hammered 3-0 by Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Johnson joined the North London club from Forest in 2023 for £48million.
The attacker has featured 105 times for the club, finding the net 27 times, but has never fully nailed down a regular starting spot. The Standard handed the substitute a 4/10 rating for his appearance against Nottingham Forest. The outlet wrote: “Did nothing after coming on against his former club.”

With Spurs expected to add reinforcements in the New Year, Johnson could be one of the players permitted to move on to create room. Although he is under contract until 2028, TEAMtalk report that the club hold a ‘temptation to sell’.
It is also claimed Johnson remains a ‘valued member of the squad’, but that alone may not prevent Spurs from opting to raise funds and ease pressure on the wage bill. Crystal Palace have been mentioned as possible suitors for the Wales international.
Oliver Glasner is eager to bolster depth at Selhurst Park, and Johnson would arrive with plenty of Premier League know-how. The report also states that two other top-flight clubs have made ‘informal contact’ over a potential move.
Tottenham are believed to be seeking around £50million to sanction Johnson’s exit, though a slightly reduced offer with favourable terms could persuade the club to sell.

If Johnson were to depart, it could open the door for Tottenham to pursue AFC Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo, who has frequently been linked with a switch to Spurs.
Johnson has scored four goals in all competitions for Tottenham this season, though only two have come in the Premier League. He found the net in each of the club’s opening two league matches but has endured a dry spell since.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League campaign, Johnson previously discussed his close relationship with Frank, though that came before his game time began to drop. During pre-season, he said: “He likes to tell me bits of advice on how I can become better and little things to help me.
“I’m a right-footed player who played on the right a lot last season. You know he is both-footed. He helped me with few techniques on how to improve my left foot, be better at that.
“He is an amazing character and personality. A world-class player. I don’t think there would be anybody who would say that they wouldn’t want to play with him because of how much of an amazing player and personality he is.”
