BREAKING — Fabrizio Romano says Crystal Palace will complete ‘real threat’ transfer today – Crystal Palace are expected to OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE the arrival of a new SIGNING with Medicals completed

Crystal Palace are expected to officially announce the arrival of a new signing today, with Oliver Glasner set to welcome a crucial attacking addition. The Eagles have endured a dip in form recently, with injuries compounding their problems.

Palace are now six matches without a victory in all competitions following their New Year’s Day stalemate with Fulham, although they did manage to halt a three-game losing run that had seen them slide to 10th in the table.

Despite that, the south London side remain well placed to push for consecutive European qualifications, with just three points separating them from the top six.

With that in mind, investment during the January transfer window appears sensible to ensure Glasner has sufficient resources to mount a serious challenge for European football. It is also a prudent move to show faith in the Austrian at a time when his future is under discussion, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the campaign.

While it remains uncertain how many additions Palace will make this winter, it is clear that the first through the doors at Selhurst Park will be Wales international Brennan Johnson.

The attacker is set to join Palace in a deal reportedly worth £35million from Tottenham Hotspur, who paid close to £50million to sign Johnson from Nottingham Forest back in 2023.

Johnson famously scored the decisive goal for Spurs in last season’s Europa League final, making the decision to sanction his exit somewhat surprising given Tottenham’s ongoing need for goals.

The forward has registered 18 goals in 81 league appearances for Spurs, meaning he is not an out-and-out prolific scorer, but he often operates in wide areas and averages roughly a goal every three games across his spells at Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.

Palace will be hoping Johnson can replicate that output at Selhurst Park and continue to grow and refine his game, especially given that he is still only 24 years old. Johnson is expected to finalise his move on Friday, with the final stage of his medical still to be completed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano posted on X: “Brennan Johnson will complete second part of medical and sign in at Crystal Palace today.”

Johnson a ‘real threat’:

Johnson was previously labelled a ‘real threat’ by former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, who said in September 2024: “Brennan’s had a top week. He scored in the cup to get us through and scored the winner, and scored a fantastic goal again today to get us there [win over Brentford].

“He was a real threat all the way through. And he had a bit of a tough period last week. But sometimes it gives you perspective about what’s important and what’s important to Brennan is that he’s a much-loved teammate. Like I said last week, he works hard every day and I know he will make a big impact for our club.”
