Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has indicated that Man City, Real Madrid, Liverpool-linked Marc Guehi is expected to remain at Selhurst Park until the conclusion of the season.
The 25-year-old made an appearance from the bench for the Eagles during their Conference League stalemate with KuPS on Thursday evening.
That draw against the Finnish side on matchday six of the League Phase meant Palace missed out on automatic qualification for the round of 16.
Consequently, the FA Cup winners will now have to navigate a two-legged playoff tie in the Conference League next year.
Guehi has played a prominent role in the club’s maiden European adventure, starting fixtures against the likes of Shelbourne and AZ Alkmaar.
Speaking about Guehi ahead of the Conference League draw, Palace boss Glasner said:
“I think Marc will stay until the end of the season.”
That statement will come as disappointing news for Liverpool, who are long-term admirers of the England international.
Several other clubs are also monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation, with Manchester City reportedly registering interest in the central defender.
A surprise move to the iconic Bernabeu with Real Madrid has also been mentioned among the growing list of links surrounding Guehi in recent weeks.
After beginning the match against KuPS on the substitutes’ bench, the defender is expected to return to the starting XI for the Premier League visit to Leeds United on Saturday night.
On deadline day of the summer transfer window, Guehi travelled to Liverpool and underwent a medical ahead of a proposed £35m move.
However, with Crystal Palace unable to secure a suitable replacement, the centre-back’s switch to Anfield was ultimately called off by the South London club.
Despite their recent FA Cup triumph, the Eagles may lack the long-term ambition required to retain a top-tier talent like Guehi for much longer.
