We have an intriguing story (Friday, November 14) for the Blue Army’s reading enjoyment today. The article focuses on a highly regarded (he is or was at King Power Stadium, at least) former Leicester City No.1 goalkeeper, Mads Hermansen.
It is now being reported that the former Denmark Under-16s, 17s, 18s, 19s and U21s stopper may actually leave his current club during the January transfer window.
Hermansen signed for West Ham United over the summer. The general feeling within Leicester’s fan base was hesitation to part with the very talented goalkeeper. However, cashing in before a difficult season back in the English Football League Championship was preferred by many. Yet it hasn’t worked out for the now 25-year-old at London Stadium.
New reports indicate the ex-Fox could indeed depart the Hammers soon enough. We ask, is a return to the East Midlands realistic with City’s financial issues and Jakub Stolarczyk (though currently injured) now the first-choice?

To begin with, WHUFC didn’t strike a bad deal at all when securing Hermansen: £15 million. Although that figure could supposedly rise with activated add-ons, I don’t think that outcome is likely now.
That’s because neither Graham Potter nor his successor in East London, Nuno Espírito Santo, appeared to prefer the ‘keeper. Conceding 11 goals in your first four appearances won’t win over a new set of supporters.
Alphonse Areola subsequently reclaimed the No.1 spot and hasn’t looked back since. Hermansen now finds himself at the centre of speculation. Brian Riemer, manager of the Danish National Team, is also concerned about his player’s situation.

West Ham will seemingly consider ‘cutting their losses’. I don’t see Hermansen being purchased by LCFC; a returning loan could be the best option if Stolarczyk remains sidelined for a while.
