NafisaBryan King anticipates The Friedkin Group will aim high in appointing a new manager for Everton after parting ways with Sean Dyche.
The former Goodison Park scout shared his thoughts following Alan Myers’ report on Sky Sports News (9 January, 12:23 pm), which confirmed Dyche’s dismissal just hours before Everton’s FA Cup tie against Peterborough United.
Fabrizio Romano also revealed via X (formerly Twitter, 9 January) that discussions are already underway to identify a replacement for the 53-year-old.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said, “I think The Friedkin Group are going to try and appoint a big name, that is for sure. They’re obviously going to go for a big name, and you don’t get much bigger than José Mourinho. However, I don’t see him leaving Turkey at this stage.
“It was Mourinho’s antics at Roma which got him the sack. He was trying to generate news around himself with some crazy things he was doing. However, whether or not he returns to England we must wait and see.”
For some time, Dyche’s future at Everton seemed uncertain under The Friedkin Group’s ownership. Yet, the timing of his sacking has sparked debate among fans and employees alike.
The pressure now lies squarely on Everton’s new owners to make a statement with their first managerial appointment. Bringing in a high-profile figure could prove a decisive move to win over the club’s supporters and set the tone for a new era at Goodison Park.
