Tyler Onyango Returns to Everton Following Loan Spell at Stockport Countyaq
Everton have announced the return of Tyler Onyango to Finch Farm after the conclusion of his loan spell at League One outfit Stockport County. The 21-year-old midfielder, who featured in a three-man defence during his time at Edgeley Park, made 10 appearances for Dave Challinor’s side before a hamstring injury prematurely ended his stint.

Onyango, a product of Everton’s academy, had joined Stockport for the first half of the 2024/25 season. However, the injury, sustained during Stockport’s win over Forest Green Rovers in November, has seen the Toffees recall him for rehabilitation with their medical staff.
An Everton statement read:
“Everton Under-21s midfielder Tyler Onyango has returned to the Club from his loan spell with Stockport County after sustaining a hamstring injury.
“The 21-year-old, who joined the Blues’ Academy at the age of eight, made 10 appearances for Dave Challinor’s League One side, having initially moved to Edgeley Park for the 2024/25 campaign. However, due to his injury, Onyango’s loan has been ended as he undergoes rehabilitation with Everton’s medical team at Finch Farm.”
Onyango, who made his senior debut for Everton under Carlo Ancelotti at just 17 in a 2021 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday, has previously gained experience with loan spells at Burton Albion and Forest Green Rovers.
Stockport County also confirmed the news, stating:
“County loanees Michael Mellon, Tyler Onyango and Tayo Adaramola have both left Edgeley Park, having been recalled by their respective parent clubs.
“Defender Tyler Onyango impressed in his ten appearances for the Club since joining on loan from Everton, often featuring on the right of our back three, but now returns to Goodison Park following a long-term injury picked up in our victory over Forest Green Rovers in November.
“We would like to thank both players for their contributions over the first half of the season and we wish each of them well in the next stage of their career.”
Everton fans will now await further updates on Onyango’s rehabilitation as he looks to regain full fitness and continue his development at the club.
