Conor Coady delivered “invaluable” perspective on Leicester City players to aid Wrexham in securing a point at the King Power Stadium.
Coady remained an unused substitute for the Welsh outfit on Tuesday night but had already left his imprint on the fixture in a briefing with staff and analysts ahead of the clash.
Transferred by City to Wrexham for £2m shortly after Cifuentes took charge at the club, Coady supported the Wrexham coaching staff with some insider knowledge on his former colleagues, boss Phil Parkinson revealed, supplementing the preparation already carried out by his team.
“His knowledge about Leicester was very helpful for us today,” Parkinson said.
“We had Conor come in with us and the analysts yesterday and he was talking through the individuals.
“As a staff, we’ve watched a lot of the players and I was there Friday at West Brom, but having that extra insight as well was invaluable for us.”
Coady was jeered by City supporters when he came out to warm up, although he received a warm reception from his ex-team-mates.
There were two City alumni on the pitch for Wrexham too, with Lewis Brunt starting and Matty James entering to loud applause midway through the second half.
James’ arrival shifted the momentum for the visitors, who equalised late on through another substitute, Nathan Broadhead.
Wrexham have now suffered just one defeat in their four away matches since earning promotion to the Championship.
“It’s another step,” Parkinson said. “It’s another good strong performance from us at this level.
“We were better today in terms of getting control at times. We’ve come up against some good teams on our travels and done well.”
