Leicester City have announced that highly-rated midfielder Louis Page has pledged his future to the club by inking his first professional deal with the Foxes.
Page broke into the first team during pre-season after shining with the Under-18s last year. Marti Cifuentes handed the 17-year-old his senior debut in the Carabao Cup before he earned two league starts.
The youngster has sat out the last two fixtures against Oxford United and Coventry City, but Cifuentes has reaffirmed his belief that the academy product will be a key figure for the Foxes throughout the campaign.
On Monday, City revealed Page has penned a new long-term contract at the King Power Stadium just days after Luke Thomas committed his future to the club.
He follows Jeremy Monga in agreeing a new deal after the 16-year-old signed a professional contract in the summer. Both youngsters have been involved under Cifuentes early in the season and have made a notable impact.
In his second senior start, Page set up Abdul Fatawu’s opening strike in the 2-0 victory over Birmingham City. With Bilal El Khannouss no longer at the club, Page is expected to battle Aaron Ramsey for a place in central attacking midfield.
Last season, the Lutterworth-born talent began with the Under-18s before stepping up to the Under-21s. Page is also a regular in the England youth ranks, featuring in the UEFA Under-17 Euros in May.
“I’m a big believer in Louis,” Cifuentes said about Page over the weekend. “He’ll be important, I’m sure. I’m a big believer of his quality. I think in my career, I’ve done decently with young players and hopefully I can help him become a very important player for Leicester in the future.”
