Aaron Ramsey has issued an apology after losing his temper on his Leicester City debut at Oxford.
Ramsey’s reckless tackle on Filip Krastev left City reduced to 10 men for the majority of the match at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The score was 1-1 when Ramsey was sent off, but City conceded just before half-time, leaving themselves staring at defeat.
However, Marti Cifuentes’ half-time adjustments shifted the momentum and Ricardo Pereira scored a second-half equaliser.
Now, Ramsey has responded, apologising for his red card and expressing pride at how the squad rallied to ensure the game did not end in loss.
Writing on social media, the 22-year-old said: “Really want to apologise to my team-mates and the fans for how today went. Proud of how the team played the game out, and will give it my all when I’m back to put it right for them.”
Ramsey was the only one of City’s deadline-day acquisitions to start the match, the Burnley loanee coming in for Louis Page in attacking midfield.
He will now miss the next three fixtures, including next weekend’s crucial clash with Coventry.
Page could be available again to play there, while Jordan Ayew might drop back into midfield with Patson Daka or Julian Carranza coming in up front.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who made his season debut as a substitute at Oxford, is another alternative.
As is new signing Jordan James, who was expected to operate in a deeper role but could be pushed forward to cover for Ramsey’s absence.
