Leicester City have been preparing themselves for a possible points deduction this season.
The Foxes were charged by the Premier League with an alleged violation of profit and sustainability rules relating to the 2023/24 campaign, despite competing in the Championship during that time.
An independent commission referred the club based on three accusations for the season – even though they previously won an appeal over charges linked to the 2022/23 term.
A points deduction has been hanging over the King Power Stadium for a while and although Marti Cifuentes has stepped in as the new Leicester manager, he will have to navigate things the hard way.

Concerns over a points deduction haven’t disappeared and after confirming the appointment of Cifuentes, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett revealed that he expects Leicester to be handed a nine-point deduction this season.
This certainly wouldn’t be favourable but with Leicester enjoying a relatively kind start to the season, they could easily put together a strong run that would make any punishment like that have minimal impact.
Even with the potential setback, Leicester remain one of the frontrunners for promotion and will back themselves to be in the mix.
