Done Deal – Leicester City strengthen attack with signing of 29-year old former Tottenham attacker on a free transfer with player signing a one-year deal with an option for another – unveiled with Foxes kit

Leicester City Women have bolstered their attacking options with the addition of Moroccan international forward Rosella Ayane on a one-year contract, with an option for a second year.

The 29-year-old arrives at the King Power Stadium following a successful tenure at Tottenham Hotspur, where she made over 100 appearances and scored 12 goals across all competitions.

Ayane’s journey in football began at Chelsea, where she was part of the youth setup before moving to Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. She returned to England with Bristol City and later joined Tottenham in 2019. Her versatility and experience have made her a valuable asset to Leicester City’s attacking lineup.

Internationally, Ayane has been a key figure for the Morocco women’s national team, earning 35 caps and scoring 11 goals since making her debut in 2021.

She played a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic run to the final of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scoring two goals during the tournament. Her contributions were instrumental in Morocco’s qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, marking their first appearance in the tournament.

At Leicester City, Ayane joins a squad undergoing significant changes, including the appointment of interim head coach Rick Passmoor. Her experience and leadership are expected to play a crucial role in the team’s development and aspirations in the Women’s Super League.

Reflecting on her move, Ayane expressed enthusiasm about the season ahead, stating: “I’m looking forward to the start of the season and the journey ahead. My previous experience will help me here.

“I can tell we have such a good group of people and I’ve seen our potential on the pitch. I am here to help push that and drive forward. There is so much quality, I think we can do really good things.”

With Ayane’s addition, Leicester City Women are poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season, combining seasoned international experience with a fresh, dynamic approach to their game.
