Leicester City have initiated contact with Championship rivals Millwall regarding their standout striker Mihailo Ivanovic.
The Foxes are noticeably lacking in the offensive area with just over a week remaining in the transfer window, and they haven’t launched the season on the strongest note in the 2025-26 Championship campaign, scraping by with a 2-1 victory over financially troubled Sheffield Wednesday on the opening weekend, before suffering a 2-1 loss to Preston North End at Deepdale last weekend.
The East Midlands team have profited from the departures of players like Mads Hermansen and Wilfred Ndidi this summer to West Ham and Besiktas respectively, but City are yet to secure a new addition aside from veteran backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Transfer dominoes may be poised to tumble in the coming days, with attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss sought after by Crystal Palace, which could provide head coach Marti Cifuentes the resources to strengthen his squad—particularly in the attacking zone.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has stated that Leicester have now submitted a transfer inquiry to Millwall regarding their Serbian goal-scorer Mihailo Ivanovic, who netted 12 Championship goals in his debut season in England in 2024-25.
The Lions invested £2.8 million to acquire Ivanovic from Serbian club Vojvodina, which was a club-record deal at the time, and after a remarkable first season on British soil, the one-cap Serbia international is now attracting interest elsewhere, though it remains uncertain whether Leicester will succeed with their approach to the South Bermondsey team.
Alex Neil’s squad have already surpassed their transfer record again to sign another forward in the form of Middlesbrough’s Josh Coburn, who was on loan at The Den last season, but the Scottish manager has been deploying him alongside Ivanovic in the same setup.
There is now a possibility that the partnership might be disrupted before the September 1 deadline as Leicester make their bid to secure the young striker, though the cost could pose a challenge, given reports earlier this summer—when Premier League side Wolves showed interest—suggested that Millwall were seeking around £15 million for Ivanovic’s services.
Last month, Millwall rejected a £8m offer from Parma for Mihailo Ivanović. They valued the player at around £14m [from @DiMarzio]. That’s the range #Leicester City should aim for if they want to sign him.

Leicester’s transfer window efforts all seem to be converging on the final week of the transfer period starting Monday, which is far from ideal.
Prices are likely to rise as clubs grow more eager to complete deals, but in Ivanovic’s case, Millwall are well-protected by his long-term contract signed last summer.
Of course, while the Lions won’t have the Serb available for sale, every player has a price, but Ivanovic’s value will be steep given his impact last season, and it will likely exceed what Leicester are prepared to pay—though you can never rule it out entirely.
What is certain, however, is that with only Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka as dedicated striker options, a new number nine is vital for Leicester if they’re to contend for promotion this upcoming season—time will reveal whether that will be Ivanovic.
