NafisaCeltic have been suggested as a possible destination for struggling Kyogo Furuhashi to reignite his career away from Birmingham City.
It comes after the striker rejected a return to Parkhead in January – only months after completing his £10million move from Stade Rennes.
Kyogo enjoyed a remarkable spell in Glasgow’s East End, collecting eight trophies before his transfer to France, but the 31-year-old managed just three goals this season following his return to British football.
Celtic explored a loan move to bring the forward back to the Hoops as they searched for attacking reinforcements during the winter transfer window, but after discussions, Martin O’Neill described the move as “unlikely”, with Kyogo – who scored 85 goals for Celtic – keen to stay at St Andrews and battle for his place.
Instead, the Hoops brought in Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu on loan, although both are expected to head back to their parent clubs after failing to make a significant impact in Glasgow’s east end.
After slipping to fourth-choice striker, Kyogo chose to end his season early and undergo surgery to address a persistent shoulder problem that dates back to his time at Celtic Park.
Former Birmingham striker Kevin Phillips recommended an exit from City and urged him to reconsider his previous decision to reject Celtic.

“It hasn’t quite worked for him. I’ve spoken about him a couple of times this season.
“I know the fans like him, but ultimately, in terms of goals and assists, it just hasn’t been there, and he got one goal in all his appearances for Birmingham.
“So it hasn’t quite worked out. And it’s not like it’s only been over a few games, it’s been over a good while.
“So I think probably for both parties, if I were Birmingham, I’d be looking to move him on, whether he goes back to Celtic or not or moves somewhere else.
“And try to bring in someone, maybe a little bit younger than him, who potentially could be an asset for the football club.
“So I certainly think it hadn’t quite worked out for him, so I would be looking to move him on, to be honest.”

Luis Palma has become a forgotten figure at Celtic and spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Lech Poznan.
During his spell there, the winger impressed, and the Polish outfit have been eager to make his stay permanent during this summer transfer window.
However, De La Rocha reported via X that Lech Poznan and Celtic were unable to strike an agreement.
Consequently, Palma now appears destined to return to Parkhead once his loan arrangement comes to an end.
Sevilla have also expressed interest in the 26-year-old, with Palma’s long-term future still unclear.

The report states that Lech Poznan possess a £3.46million option to purchase Palma this summer.
However, the Polish club have submitted alternative proposals, with Celtic now reportedly ending negotiations.
Poznan remain eager to retain the winger and now have one week to activate the agreed payment.
The Honduran’s representatives have received no further contact from Lech’s hierarchy since discussions broke down.
Sevilla continue to monitor developments closely, but at present Palma is expected to return to Celtic after finding it difficult to establish himself in the first team.
With the winger still having two years remaining on his contract, it remains uncertain what the Hoops intend to do with Palma should a suitable bid fail to arrive during the current transfer window.

The midfielder has slipped down the pecking order at Parkhead and the club are reportedly looking to cash in on the player, who has two years left on his current deal.
Sources claim that the Glasgow giants have already moved beyond the 28-year-old in their long-term planning and are willing to move him on to create room for further arrivals this summer.
Hatate found it difficult to force his way into the starting XI towards the end of the 2025-26 campaign and was even omitted from the matchday squad for the closing fixtures against Hearts and Dunfermline Athletic.
However, it remains to be seen whether any club will come forward with an offer for Hatate following what has been a challenging season for the Japan international.
