Chris Kamara announces emotional and triumphant Nottingham Forest return after receiving the “best phone call of his life”

Chris Kamara will make an emotional return to television as a pundit, covering Nottingham Forest’s Boxing Day clash with Tottenham for Amazon Prime.

The beloved former Sky Sports presenter, who stepped back from live broadcasting in 2022 due to a rare neurological disorder, described the invitation as the “best phone call ever.” Kamara will be reunited with his long-time colleague and close friend, Jeff Stelling, who will be in the studio.

Kamara, renowned for his infectious enthusiasm and catchphrase “unbelievable Jeff,” became a household name during his 24-year tenure at Sky Sports. However, he was forced to step back after being diagnosed with apraxia of speech (AOS), a condition that impacts speech and cognitive processes.

Announcing the news on social media, Kamara said: “Best phone call ever this afternoon inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day, reporting back to the Unbelievable Jeff Stelling in the studio. I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you Amazon. I’m back.”

The response to his return has been overwhelmingly positive. Kamara, now 66, added: “Once again I am blown away by the reaction to the news that I am back reporting on footy. Thank you everyone, you are all ‘Unbelievable Jeff.’”

Despite his diagnosis, Kamara has continued to work on pre-recorded projects and even travelled to Mexico for clinical trials.

Stelling, who also left Sky Sports earlier this year, replied with typical warmth: “I am looking forward to it as much as you mate.”

Football fans will undoubtedly welcome Kamara back to their screens on Boxing Day for what promises to be a heart-warming return.
