MASSIVE NEWS – Rangers ‘WIN Race’ to SIGN ‘Top Drawer and Very Exciting’ star to Ibrox as Russell Martin eyes first Transfer Deal since getting appointed as new manager

Rangers are confident they have secured the competition to sign Peterborough winger Kwame Poku on a free transfer this summer, according to TeamTALK.

The Light Blues are aiming to narrow the gap with their intense rivals Celtic after a lackluster campaign in 2024/25, which led to the dismissal of Philippe Clement and a second-place finish in the league under interim manager Barry Ferguson.

New Rangers owners 49ers Enterprises have already made an impact at Ibrox by appointing former Southampton manager Russell Martin as the club’s new head coach, and they are now on the brink of adding a young winger to bolster his roster.

Poku, who has been described as “top drawer” and “very exciting” by Peterborough director of football Barry Fry, is set to depart the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

The 23-year-old has drawn attention from teams like Birmingham City too, but it’s Rangers who are the leading contenders for his signature, and they believe they have ‘won the race’ to finalize a deal to bring him to Glasgow.

Poku scored 12 goals and registered eight assists in the Championship in 2024/25 from the right-wing, and after Rangers were compelled to allow Vaclav Cerny to return to his parent club following a successful loan spell, the Ghanaian has been identified as an ideal substitute.

While Poku is out of contract, Rangers will still need to pay compensation to Peterborough to complete the transfer due to his age, although the amount is expected to be reduced compared to if he were to stay in England.

Martin is also considering reinforcing the defense at Ibrox with the club exploring agreements for Conor Coady and Harry Darling, while Southampton midfielder Flynn Downes is also rumored to be a target this summer.

It’s also thought that Martin is prepared to release players from Ibrox this summer, with a deal arranged for Robin Propper to return to the Netherlands, while Cyriel Dessers is said to be nearing a move to AEK Athens.
