“Deal to be Announced within days” —Kris Boyd delivers exciting news on imminent arrival to Ibrox that will change the club’s fortunes and help bring down Celtic will happen this week after what he’s heard from the club’s backroom

The 49ers’ acquisition of Rangers now means that the Gers are one step nearer to naming a manager.

The American consortium finalised the agreement on Friday as the Glaswegian side instantly became the wealthiest club in Scotland.

It is understood that £20 million will be set aside to enhance Rangers’ squad this summer.

However, Rangers must install a manager before making significant transfer moves.

Boyd anticipates Rangers boss appointment ‘within days’ as Davide Ancelotti emerges as frontrunner:

Speculation over who will take charge at Rangers has persisted since the ownership change.

Steven Gerrard is now out of contention at the Gers, and he’s no longer a possibility for the 49ers.

At present, both Davide Ancelotti and Chris Martin are leading the race for the Rangers position.

Still, even after months of speculation, a final decision has yet to be made.

However, Kris Boyd has now provided the Ibrox supporters with an update on the managerial search.

According to The Scottish Sun (1 June), the former Rangers forward thinks an appointment will come “within days” as he pointed out that Ancelotti is now the frontrunner for the role despite it being a “gamble”.

He said: “Sporting director Kevin Thelwell officially starts work this week coming, so I would expect a new head coach to be next through the front door at Ibrox — and within days.

“Davide Ancelotti is favourite, ahead of Russell Martin, after it became clear there would be no romantic return to the club for Steven Gerrard.

“I’ve already said the appointment of Ancelotti would be a gamble. But all managerial appointments come with an element of risk.

“Yes, he’s worked for dad Carlo at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Napoli.

“But the buck stopped with the old man when things went wrong, and Ancelotti jnr was insulated from any criticism.”

Ancelotti deserves time at Rangers:

With whispers growing that Ancelotti could be hired soon, the Ibrox crowd must show patience with the Italian.

It will be the 35-year-old’s first role as a head coach, and he is bound to make a few errors early on.

Still, it’s evident the incoming manager has promise, and once he settles in, Ancelotti could build something lasting at Ibrox.

Hopefully, the 49ers also show restraint and avoid making impulsive choices if his early results aren’t ideal.

Yet, even with his lack of experience, Ancelotti could just as easily enjoy a remarkable start to life at Rangers.
