Ridvan Yilmaz could be on his way out of Rangers this summer.

The 49ers Enterprises have officially completed their takeover at Ibrox and fans will be looking ahead to the summer transfer period, intrigued by the possibilities of who might be brought in.

However, there is expected to be activity in both directions, and Yilmaz is one of those unlikely to be part of the new chapter in Glasgow.

Yilmaz had been linked with a departure from Rangers in the closing stages of the season, following what has been a challenging year for the left-back.

Injury issues limited the 24-year-old to just 17 Scottish Premiership outings this term, which saw him fall down the hierarchy as Jefte stepped up to claim his spot.

Still, last month, the Turkiye international insisted he had no plans to leave Ibrox this summer and was absent from the squad simply due to not needing to be risked.

With two years still remaining on his deal, however, it now appears that stance has shifted, with a return to his homeland seemingly imminent.

As per Turkish outlet Sprox (1 June), Besiktas have entered discussions about bringing Yilmaz back to his former team.

The report mentions that an agreement has been struck with the 24-year-old, and negotiations with Rangers are now advancing well to finalise the move.

Yilmaz is enthusiastic about the transfer and has handed in a formal request to help push through his departure from Ibrox this summer.

Now that the 49ers have taken charge at Ibrox, there will be significant work behind the scenes in readiness for the upcoming season.

The new leadership first need to decide who will lead the team before the recruitment process begins in earnest, but expectations are high.

While there will need to be a degree of careful progress to stay within PSR guidelines, compared to recent seasons, the outlook at Rangers appears encouraging.

With that considered, parting ways with Yilmaz shouldn’t be a tough call for the club, particularly if he is eager to move on.

Given he still has two years left on his contract, the Light Blues have the chance to recoup a fee for him while also moving on a player who hasn’t shown the reliability needed to feature consistently.

With alternatives ahead of him in the pecking order, this seems like an obvious decision.
