NafisaCeltic have made a significant number of moves in recent times, some of which have generated transfer profit, while others have resulted in losses. It’s simply part of operating in football.
While football is ultimately a business, it means more than that to every player involved; it is a livelihood and something the vast majority cherish deeply. As much as many try to depict the sport as purely a business and nothing more, that isn’t the reality.
One of the more challenging stories to follow in this context has been that of Kyogo Furuhashi’s move to Rennes last winter in pursuit of greater opportunities. The Celtic icon was an exceptional striker during his spell in Glasgow, scoring 85 goals for the Scottish club.
But at the end of the day, it offered Kyogo a better shot at breaking into his national team, that is, if he had been granted a chance. Unfortunately, things have unraveled for him in that respect, and his time at Rennes has been anything but straightforward.
What Update Has Been Recently Provided Regarding Kyogo Furuhashi and Could a Celtic Return be Possible?
In a recent piece by the Daily Record, they referenced a note from French publication Ouest-France about Kyogo and his future. Sadly, the outlook appears quite grim regarding his prospects with Rennes:
“Ouest-France report that the Hoops’ hero is among the players who have been ‘warned’ that they will not be retained at the club.”
This is a complex situation frankly, as it’s evident Kyogo has had almost no opportunities at Rennes recently, so moving on would be beneficial. On the flip side, though, transferring twice within six months is challenging, and it means he’ll have to adapt to a new system all over again if he does make a move.
It’s tough to see any Celtic legend struggle elsewhere, especially one as well-liked as Kyogo, who showed nothing but affection for the club and its supporters during his time here.
Sadly, the sport itself is ruthless, and the business side even more so, which has placed him in a difficult spot moving forward. Hopefully, things improve for him soon.
