In 2021, the 51-year-old assumed the position of overseeing individual player development at the Premier League club.
Pressley played a key role in promoting players such as Yehor Yarmoliuk, Ryan Trevitt, Ji-soo Kim, and Paris Maghoma from the B team to the senior squad.
Brentford announced Pressley’s departure on Thursday morning: “After careful thought, I’ve decided it’s time for a new challenge in my career,” he told the club’s official website.
“I leave the club having built some great friendships, wonderful memories, and also feeling grateful for the chance to work with some highly-skilled individuals, which has allowed me to learn and grow as a person.”
The Bees’ Director of Football, Phil Giles, commented: “I’d like to thank Steven for his dedication to Brentford over the last 4 seasons.”

After transferring from Hearts in 2006, Pressley appeared in 22 games during his 18-month tenure at the Hoops under Gordon Strachan.
During his spell at Celtic Park, he won two Scottish Premiership titles and earned a notable 32 caps for the Scottish national team.
What lies ahead for Pressley following his exit from the Gtech Community Stadium remains unclear.
Pressley has been out of club management since 2019 after leaving Carlisle United. His previous managerial positions included Pafos, Fleetwood Town, Coventry City, and Falkirk.
With several vacancies open in both the Scottish Premiership and Championship, Pressley could be considering a return to Scotland in some role.
