“Club love the transfer fee they’ve received, the negotiations between the two clubs have ‘advanced in the last few hours’ —Nottingham Forest to iron out little details now and then set to COMPLETE the SIGNING of Top defender for a fee higher than €13.72m as Personal Terms Agreed

On Friday, Globo Esporte revealed Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Botafogo’s Jair Cunha. They didn’t disclose the specifics of their offer, but noted it exceeds the €13.72m they paid for him in February.

UOL supports Globo’s report regarding the bid and then provides the latest on the Reds’ pursuit of the 20-year-old.

They don’t know the exact amount offered by Nottingham Forest, but the article indicates Botafogo are pleased with what’s been presented.

As a result, discussions between the two clubs have ‘progressed in the last few hours’, although several steps still need to be finalised to complete the transfer. If Nottingham Forest can resolve those remaining elements, they could secure Jair.

The Brazilian side’s proprietor is John Textor, who also holds shares in Crystal Palace and Lyon. The American maintains a strong rapport with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

UOL reports Textor is heading up Botafogo’s talks with Nuno Espírito Santo’s team for the centre-back’s move.

They highlight that Lyon hold a first refusal right to sign the defender in the summer of 2026.
