It remains unclear if the ex-Celtic coach will remain at the Premier League side for next season despite their landmark Europa League success last Wednesday.
Postecoglou ended Spurs’ 41-year wait for a European trophy by steering them to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the final hosted in Bilbao. Despite that European achievement, uncertainty surrounds his position in North London after a disappointing league campaign in which the club finished 17th.
According to Football.london, a conclusion on Postecoglou’s future isn’t likely to be determined this week. Reports have indicated there’s a chance Postecoglou may retain his role next season following the club’s continental success.
With staff now away on vacation following the end of the Premier League season, it’s understood that Daniel Levy has yet to hold any discussions about the manager’s future.
“I will be honest, I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented,” Ange Postecoglou said. “I have had to answer the questions because no-one else at the club is in the position to do so, I guess.
“I have got no doubt, though, that this could be a real defining moment for this club, because wherever I have been, I have made an impact where I have brought success to a club that hasn’t had it for a while.”
“You just have to look at those clubs’ trajectory even after I left, they are still competing for things. I really think this is a moment in time where this club could push on and be a real contender for honours on a yearly basis.”
It would be outrageous if Spurs were to dismiss Ange Postecoglou after lifting a European trophy, but it is Daniel Levy, so nothing would shock you.
