NafisaLyall Cameron wrapped up his time at Dundee by netting a brace to guarantee their Premiership survival – and promptly turned his attention to his upcoming switch to Rangers.
Earlier this year, the midfielder agreed a pre-contract deal to join the Gers at the conclusion of the campaign but has continued to give his all for the Dens Park outfit.
That culminated in a final-day starring role, opening the scoring against St Johnstone with a superb effort before converting a late penalty. That result meant Ross County, who drew with Motherwell, were unable to leapfrog them regardless.
Cameron will now enjoy a break of just over a month before linking up with his new Rangers colleagues for pre-season on June 23, with no need to feature in a two-legged play-off against Livingston to confirm Dundee’s top-flight status.
He’s clearly excited about becoming a Light Blues player and testing himself at a major club.
He told the media post-match: “It’s an unknown but it’s a challenge and I’m really looking forward to going somewhere different and challenging myself at a higher level.
“I accept that I’m going from one of the smaller teams in the country to the biggest so it’s not going to be easy and I’m going to have to work hard for my spot in the team.”
Cameron highlights that he honoured his commitment to give everything for Dundee after his exit was announced and revealed he had even been playing through knocks.
“I kept going on when I signed [for Rangers] that I’d still be fully committed to [Dundee],” he added.
“I understand people had their doubts about that, I wouldn’t really expect anything less because I’m moving on at the end of the season.
“But I’ve been playing with niggles that I probably shouldn’t have been given the situation I’m in.
“That just shows how much I wanted to leave Dundee in as good a position as possible.
“The club itself and the fans did a lot for me in the last three years so I wanted to give them all I could.
“I’m glad that was enough to keep us up.”
