NafisaJames Forrest made more history at Celtic after netting in the 1-1 draw with St Mirren at Celtic Park.
Celtic salvaged a point after St Mirren took the lead early in the 51st minute, threatening to dampen the Trophy Day atmosphere at Parkhead.
But just when it seemed like the celebrations might be spoiled by a defeat, Celtic hero James Forrest stepped up to finish the season with a storybook ending.
And as the Celtic winger secured the coveted record of scoring in 16 consecutive seasons in remarkable fashion, Chris Sutton, unbelievably, had to defend Forrest from some foolish remarks by Robbie Savage.

Sutton was praising Forrest for his incredible feat as he applauded the ‘fantastic’ Celtic winger’s goalscoring record.
However, Savage responded in his usual provocative style, prompting a sharp rebuttal from Celtic legend Sutton.
Sutton said on BBC 606 [51m 50s], “James Forrest, Rob. Fantastic player has been for Celtic. Sixteenth consecutive season.
“He scored a goal for Celtic today. That’s that’s phenomenal, isn’t it?”
Savage: “Well, you should really, if you’re a forward player playing for Celtic, you should score in every single season you compete up there. Let’s be totally honest.”
Sutton: “Do you want to take that back? We’ll give you a chance to show a bit of respect.”
Savage: “Let’s be fair, though. Listen, it’s an amazing achievement. Let’s be fair, if you’re a forward player playing for Celtic, I bet you scored in every season you play for Celtic.”
Sutton: “The most decorated player in Celtic’s history, Rob.”
Savage: “Did you score every single season you play for Celtic?”
Sutton: “Can you give James Forrest a bit of praise first?”
Savage: “Well done, James Forrest. Brilliant achievement. Fantastic achievement. But did you score in every season you play for Celtic?”
Sutton: “That’s just really a stupid argument. It’s a stupid argument. Sixteen seasons commitment.
“How many players do you see show that commitment?”
Savage: “I’m just saying, if you play for Celtic as a forward, you should score in every season. Did you score in every season? Yes. Did John Hartson score in every season? Yes. Did Henrik Larsson score in every season?”
Sutton: “It’s just pathetic.”
Savage: “It’s not pathetic, it’s just being honest. Listen, well done, James, for 16 years of longevity. Amazing achievement because of the longevity.
“But let’s be fair, if I played for Celtic as a forward and I played there for 10 years, I’d have scored in every season.”
Sutton: “You wouldn’t have got in the Celtic bench.”
The time Robbie Savage revealed whether he supports Celtic or Rangers:
Savage has a history of taking digs at Celtic and is frequently put in his place by Sutton.
So with his ongoing anti-Celtic remarks, it’s clear he must lean towards either Celtic or Rangers, right?
In an interview six years ago, Savage explained his stance on Celtic: “My beloved Rangers…obviously I have a bit of banter with Chris. I just go against Chris Sutton. Listen, I don’t support either Celtic or Rangers.
“I was a big fan of Celtic with Martin O’Neill, my ex-boss, John Hartson, my old room-mate, Neil Lennon. I used to like Celtic but then as soon as Chris started banging on about Celtic.
“I’m a friend of Steven Gerrard’s so now I’ve gone on the Rangers side of the fence and I just love hammering Chris when Rangers get a result and Celtic don’t.”
His flip-flop attitude explains why he sounds so inconsistent when discussing Celtic but now, on the Rangers side of the fence as Savage puts it, he must be struggling to watch the Hoops collect trophy after trophy.
