Wolves are preparing a shock approach to land Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth this summer, according to Molineux News.
Vitor Pereira is aiming to strengthen his squad after an impressive campaign since taking over from Gary O’Neil in December, steering the team away from relegation concerns and into 14th place with two matches left to play.
Significant changes are anticipated in the summer transfer market as a result, and the club could now pursue a bold attempt to sign the international teammate of one of their existing players.
Wolves Targeting Sorloth Move:

With Molineux bracing for the likely exit of star attacker Matheus Cunha in a big-money switch to Manchester United, a successor is needed, and the club must figure out how to inject more goals into the side.
That’s where Sorloth enters the equation for club officials, with the ex-Villarreal striker being a close associate of current forward Jacob-Strand Larsen and a regular spot in a top-flight side potentially on offer.
The 29-year-old has notched 17 goals in La Liga this term, including four in his most recent appearance last weekend, placing him fifth in the division’s scoring charts. Despite that, he has started just 13 league games, as Diego Simeone has largely opted for Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann up front.
Alexander Sorloth’s La Liga stats – Atletico Madrid squad ranking:
Stats | Output | Squad Rank |
---|---|---|
Appearances | 32 | 4th |
Goals | 17 | 1st |
Aerials Won Per Game | 2.8 | 1st |
Shots Per Game | 2 | =1st |
Key Passes Per Game | 0.4 | =11th |
Match Rating | 6.90 | 2nd |

However, it’s reported that Sorloth isn’t particularly keen on departing the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, and Atletico Madrid are also not eager to see him go.
The former Crystal Palace frontman has previously been labelled a ‘powerhouse’ who ‘terrorises defences’, and would represent a sensational addition for Wolves if a deal could be secured. Still, the move appears unlikely at this stage and would mark a major coup should the situation change in the near future.
