NafisaCeltic loanee Odin Thiago Holm has conveyed a powerful message regarding his future with the Hoops, despite struggling to establish himself after signing in the summer of 2023 for a reported £3 million from Vålerenga.
Holm is currently on loan at MLS club Los Angeles FC; yet, despite the appeal of LA, he is keen to return to Celtic at the conclusion of his loan period and create an instant impact—something he has not yet accomplished.
It’s been a mostly discouraging stint at Celtic, with only 16 appearances over two seasons in Glasgow, but at 22, he still has the opportunity to resurrect his Celtic career. It’s evident he’s not conceding and is leveraging his time in the USA to regroup.
He said: (TCW), “I still want to go back to Celtic and play, that’s the goal. I signed a new contract before I left for LA. The aim is still to come back and be successful for Celtic and win trophies, just like the current team.
“I am confident in my own ability to do that, and I still see my future at Celtic. I just need to get consistency in the work that I do.
“I have struggled with some injuries up until now, but I came to Los Angeles to play and to gain experience and to gain consistency and make myself ready for when I return to Celtic and be part of the team.
“I am contracted to the club until 2028, and there is still time to make my mark.”
It’s an optimistic message for Celtic fans, but Holm must validate it with strong displays on the field.
Despite being one of Brendan Rodgers’ early acquisitions upon his return to Celtic, Holm hasn’t yet proven himself enough to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup — but that must shift if he’s to succeed next season.
Loan periods can often shape a player’s career, and Celtic will be closely observing Holm’s development in LA before deciding whether he merits another opportunity or should be transferred permanently.
It hasn’t been the most promising beginning at Celtic, but it’s clear that Holm is determined to succeed in Glasgow.
