As it stands, the Toffees are endangered to relegation giving their Premier League position, sitting just three points above the relegation zone, a familiar occasion for a club that has been fighting for survival in recent seasons.
After a poor start to the 2024/25 campaign, in which they lost their opening four games, manager Sean Dyche has managed to steady the ship somewhat, securing two vital wins so far which helps keep the teams hope of survivals.
However, Everton have falled once more, picking up only two draws and a defeat from their last three fixtures.
While Dyche still holds the managerial reins, his tenure at the club is in danger, with the club’s owners, the Friedkin family, poised to take full control in the near future.
The growing sense is that they will not tolerate mediocrity for long, particularly as they eye an ambitious overhaul at the club.
With survival top of the agenda, Everton are already making plans for the January transfer window.
In the summer, they brought in seven new signings, including loan additions Orel Mangala, Armando Broja, and Jesper Lindstrom, along with free-agent Asmir Begovic.
Permanent deals were also struck for Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jake O’Brien. Of these, only Mangala and Ndiaye have shown promise, offering some encouragement amid the struggle within the club.
While the specifics of who Everton are targeting remain unclear, Alan Myers has confirmed that the club’s transfer plans are already in motion.
“We’re looking to bring in at least two players,” Myers stated, though he cautioned that it was still early to speculate on exact names who could be added to the team.
With the club’s imminent takeover and a move to a new stadium next season, there is reason for cautious optimism.
The Friedkins are unlikely to splash cash immediately, given the team’s poor form, but Dyche can expect some reinforcements.
The priority will likely be a quality striker and a dependable left-back, though, as Myers suggested, much remains to be decided within the hierarchy.
