NafisaRangers have officially confirmed another significant piece of business in what has been a busy summer under Derek McInnes, with the Ibrox club continuing to reshape the squad ahead of the new campaign.
After weeks of strengthening several areas of the team, the Light Blues have now secured the services of one of Serbia’s brightest young talents, adding further quality and leadership to their midfield options.
The move also highlights Rangers’ continued focus on recruiting young players with high potential, while ensuring they possess the mentality required to cope with the demands of representing the Glasgow giants.
The club have officially announced the signing of Vanja Dragojevic from Partizan Belgrade on a four-year contract, with Rangers holding the option to extend the agreement by a further 12 months.
The transfer is understood to be worth around £4 million, making the Serbian midfielder the club’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
Dragojevic arrives at Ibrox after establishing himself as one of the standout young midfielders in Serbian football. Despite his age, he captained Partizan Belgrade and earned widespread praise for his maturity, leadership and composed performances in midfield.
The highly-rated midfielder has also broken into the Serbian national team, earning two senior international caps while continuing his rapid development.
Speaking after completing the move, Dragojevic admitted joining Rangers was an opportunity he could not turn down.
“It feels amazing, and I’m really happy and proud to be part of such a big club like Rangers. It’s a big opportunity, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I first heard [the interest] three months ago, and when I heard it I already knew it was very interesting to me because I think the winning mentality that Rangers have is compatible with my mentality.”
Manager Derek McInnes believes Rangers have secured a player capable of making a major impact both now and in the future.
“We are really excited to bring Vanja on board. He’s got huge potential, really exciting attributes, and boasts the character to play in this environment. To captain a club the size of FK Partizan at such a young age tells you everything you need to know about the respect he commands and the leadership qualities he already possesses.
“I believe he will add a lot to our group, and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”
Dragojevic enjoyed an impressive campaign with Partizan last season, making 42 appearances across all competitions and contributing four goals from midfield. He also featured in the Serbian side’s UEFA Conference League qualifying tie against Hibernian, gaining valuable European experience before making the move to Scotland.
His arrival continues an aggressive recruitment drive by Rangers, with McInnes determined to build a squad capable of mounting a serious challenge at the top of Scottish football after last season’s third-place finish.
The signing also reflects the club’s long-term strategy of investing in talented young players who can immediately strengthen the first team while possessing significant room for further development.
With pre-season entering its decisive phase, Rangers supporters will now be eager to see their latest signing in action as Dragojevic begins the next chapter of his promising career at Ibrox.
