Done Deal – Celtic have completed transfer move for 25-year old star as player has arrived hours ago and undergoing medical

Celtic’s summer overhaul is continuing as Brendan Rodgers prepares to sanction another permanent departure from Parkhead, with one of the club’s forgotten defenders now on the verge of sealing a fresh start abroad.

The Hoops have already been active in reshaping their squad ahead of the new campaign, with Rodgers determined to trim players who no longer feature prominently in his plans while creating room for further arrivals before the transfer window closes.

Now, it appears another exit is only a matter of time after reports revealed the player has already travelled to complete the final formalities of his transfer.

Maik Nawrocki set for permanent Celtic exit

According to reports, Maik Nawrocki is in the final stages of completing a permanent move to RC Lens, with the Polish defender already undergoing a medical ahead of the transfer.

The 25-year-old is expected to complete his switch to the Ligue 1 side once the remaining paperwork is finalised, bringing an end to a difficult spell at Celtic.

Nawrocki arrived at Parkhead from Legia Warsaw in the summer of 2023 for a reported £4.3 million, becoming one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings after returning for his second spell as Celtic manager.

The centre-back signed a five-year contract and was viewed as a long-term investment for the Hoops’ defence.

However, things never fully worked out in Glasgow.

Despite arriving with high expectations, Nawrocki managed just 15 appearances across two seasons as he struggled to establish himself in Rodgers’ first-team plans.

Last summer, Celtic allowed the defender to join German side Hannover 96 on loan in search of regular football.

The move proved successful for the Polish defender, who impressed throughout his spell in Germany and rebuilt his reputation with a string of consistent performances.

Although Hannover were keen to keep him permanently, they were ultimately unable to reach an agreement to secure his signature.

That has now opened the door for RC Lens, who have moved quickly to win the race for the defender.

Fresh chapter in France

Reports indicate Nawrocki has already arrived at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, where he is undergoing medical examinations before completing his move to the French club.

The transfer will bring an end to a frustrating chapter in his Celtic career and offer the defender the opportunity to relaunch himself in Ligue 1.

For Celtic, the permanent departure will reduce the wage bill and free up additional space in Rodgers’ squad as recruitment plans continue during the remainder of the transfer window.

With Nawrocki now seemingly just hours away from completing his move, another member of Rodgers’ squad is set to leave Parkhead as Celtic continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new season.
