NafisaCeltic’s social media team chose their moment brilliantly after Sunday’s massive derby victory over Rangers at Celtic Park.
Before kick-off, Rangers had shared a short post on X which simply read: “💙 Away Days”.
At the time, it felt like a routine pre-match message ahead of one of the biggest fixtures in Scottish football. Rangers travelled to the east end knowing that a win could heap enormous pressure on Celtic while keeping Hearts firmly within reach in the title battle.
Instead, the afternoon completely flipped in Celtic’s favour after the interval.
Martin O’Neill’s men bounced back from conceding early to claim a huge 3-1 victory and keep themselves firmly in the championship hunt going into the final two games of the season. Yang Hyun-jun pulled Celtic level before the break before Daizen Maeda delivered two sensational goals in the second half.
Maeda’s second strike completely transformed the atmosphere inside the stadium.
Kieran Tierney burst down the left flank and drilled a dangerous delivery across the six-yard area for the Japanese forward to steer beyond Jack Butland. Then came the moment that sent Celtic Park into absolute chaos.
Sebastian Tounekti’s cross floated awkwardly into the box and Maeda somehow managed to adjust himself before producing an incredible overhead kick from around 14 yards out.
The stadium erupted instantly.
Shortly after the final whistle, Celtic responded directly underneath Rangers’ original post with: “💚 #ParadiseOnYourMind”
It was exactly the kind of social media moment supporters love even more after winning an Old Firm derby.
Especially one carrying this amount of pressure and emotion.
The result moved Celtic back to within a single point of Hearts after the Edinburgh side dropped points against Motherwell on Saturday evening. Rangers meanwhile now sit seven points behind Celtic and are officially out of the title race.
Focus now shifts towards Fir Park on Wednesday night before Hearts head to Celtic Park for what could become a dramatic final day showdown.
After Sunday’s derby, the feeling surrounding Celtic has completely changed once again.
