Nicolas Raskin is rarely far from the drama when Rangers face Celtic, and the latest Old Firm derby at Ibrox was no different.
The Rangers midfielder thrives on the intensity of the rivalry and often finds himself at the centre of heated moments. Over the past few seasons, the 25-year-old Belgian has clashed repeatedly with Celtic captain Callum McGregor, and tensions have continued to simmer whenever the two sides meet.
In the latest derby, Raskin was again involved in several confrontations. During Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final clash, he also had a heated exchange with Celtic defender Julian Araujo as tempers flared during the match.
But it wasn’t just the players who Raskin appeared eager to wind up.
Raskin taunts Celtic supporters in unseen footage
Footage captured by FootyAdventures shows Raskin turning his attention toward the away section in the Broomloan Stand during a key moment of the match.
The incident came after Rangers believed they had taken the lead when Emmanuel Fernandez bundled the ball into the net from a corner. As Rangers players rushed to celebrate in front of the jubilant Sandy Jardine Stand, Raskin quickly shifted his focus toward the travelling Celtic supporters.
Alongside teammate Nedim Bajrami, the midfielder was seen gesturing toward the green-and-white crowd — pointing and laughing as the away end reacted angrily.
For a brief moment, it looked like Rangers had delivered a crushing blow to their rivals.
VAR turns the moment on its head
However, the celebrations did not last long.
Just moments later, VAR stepped in to review the goal and replays showed that Fernandez had clearly used his hand to force the ball over the line.
The decision was overturned, leaving Rangers players — including Raskin — with their celebrations cut short and the Celtic supporters suddenly back in full voice.
Celtic get the last laugh
The dramatic twist proved even more painful for Rangers later in the match.
After 120 minutes finished goalless, the quarter-final was decided by a penalty shootout.
Celtic kept their composure from the spot while Rangers faltered, and Tomas Cvancara eventually stepped up to fire the decisive penalty that sent the Hoops into the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
In the end, the moment that had seen Raskin mocking the Celtic supporters earlier in the game quickly backfired — as it was the visiting fans celebrating long after the final whistle.
