If it wasn’t for Martin O’Neill, then Celtic would be in a much worse spot than they are at present.
Back in November, Celtic’s AGM was abandoned after the supporters objected to Ross Desmond verbally attacking the paying fans.
Whichever perspective you take, it was still a grim day for Celtic, as even Simon Jordan is recognising how inept those managing the club from the Parkhead boardroom are.
“The Celtic board didn’t help themselves,” said Jordan. “They haven’t helped themselves in some of their communications.
“It was a ridiculous shareholder meeting that they shouldn’t have held. The son of Dermot Desmond was wagging his finger and lecturing people.”
Simon Jordan is correct to call out the Celtic board and Ross Desmond:
Jordan once owned Crystal Palace, so he knows the trials and struggles of football clubs, dealing with challenges, especially with supporters.
That’s why he can’t help but side with owners or those in the boardroom most of the time, and direct verbal shots at fans.
The talkSPORT pundit has done that on numerous occasions when discussing Celtic’s current turmoil, but even he is now criticising the leadership at the top.
Yes, Jordan still can’t help but note that Celtic fans are ‘pushing the envelope a little too far’ with their protests, but even he recognises that the board aren’t exactly fit and proper.
Hopefully, more media outlets like talkSPORT will place the Celtic board under serious scrutiny, because it’s necessary if there is to be meaningful change from top to bottom.

“So, they have grown braver and stronger in their opinions. Now they are going beyond the pale of saying certain things and pushing the envelope a little too far.
“But that was down to the Celtic board, and they didn’t help themselves. They haven’t helped themselves in some of their communications.

“But when you are in a position of authority, influence and control, what you want to do, and what you should do, are two different things.”
