NafisaWolverhampton Wanderers have pulled off one of the most exciting signings of the summer transfer window so far, agreeing a deal with Celta Vigo for highly-rated Spanish teenager Fer López.
As first reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club has sealed a €25 million package for the attacking midfielder, with a medical set for Wednesday.
The 21-year-old star, full name Miguel Rodríguez López, but popularly known as Fer López, has long been on the radar of top European clubs after breaking into the Celta Vigo first team and impressing with his technical ability, vision, and flair in La Liga.
His performances in the 2023/24 campaign, which saw him score goals and create chances despite his young age, have earned him widespread attention in Spain and beyond.
Romano confirmed the transfer is all but completed:
“Fer López to Wolves, here we go! Deal confirmed and agreement sealed now with Celta Vigo for €25m package. Medical on Wednesday for López who’s agreed personal terms with Wolves last week.”
The structure of the deal reportedly includes performance-based bonuses and a sell-on clause for Celta Vigo, ensuring they benefit from any future move the player might make. López, who can play across the frontline or as an advanced midfielder, is viewed as a key piece of Wolves’ long-term rebuild under manager Vitor Pereira.
Wolves, who are known for their keen eye in the Iberian market, see López as the kind of player who can bring energy, creativity, and goals to a side that lacked consistent attacking output last season. His arrival could also pave the way for some outgoings, with clubs circling around current attackers like Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha.
