Borussia Dortmund are anticipated to finalise a deal for Jobe Bellingham ‘in the coming days’, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano states that Bellingham has now settled personal terms to complete the switch to Signal Iduna Park, and will sign a five-year contract once the two clubs come to terms on a transfer fee.

The Bundesliga side have accelerated their pursuit of the Sunderland midfielder after the 19-year-old expressed his intention to join them on Monday. Bellingham had been considering his choices following Sunderland’s triumph over Sheffield United at Wembley, with Eintracht Frankfurt also interested in a move.

Dortmund are keen to wrap up the deal before the current transfer window shuts on June 10th, enabling Bellingham to feature in their upcoming Club World Cup campaign in the USA.

However, their opening bid of around €25 million falls short of Sunderland’s expectations, as Bellingham has a release clause in his contract valued at approximately €40 million.

The two clubs are likely to settle on some form of middle ground, with the valuation gap probably covered through performance-based add-ons.

Sunderland will also aim to lock in a meaningful future sell-on percentage for themselves, as Birmingham City are in line to receive roughly 15% of any profit the Black Cats make from this transfer.
