Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe have reportedly conducted their final round of discussions to secure their first managerial appointment as Rangers owners.

On Friday, it was confirmed that the US consortium had finalized their takeover at Ibrox.

Following Philippe Clement’s dismissal in February and the subsequent interim spell of Barry Ferguson, which proved unsuccessful until the season’s end, Cavenagh and Marathe’s immediate focus is to appoint a new permanent Rangers manager.

Their chosen candidate will benefit from substantial financial support from the American investors, who are prepared to invest £20 million into the Ibrox treasury.

Davide Ancelotti happy to accept Rangers manager’s job:

Davide Ancelotti has reportedly informed Rangers that he is ready to take on the role of their new manager after reflecting on his future during a recent holiday.

Having spent most of his coaching career as an assistant to his father Carlo, the Daily Record reported on Saturday (31 May) that the 35-year-old is prepared to forge his own path at Ibrox.

Former Rangers defender Russell Martin is also in contention for the position, and it is understood that the decision now comes down to a direct competition between the two following Steven Gerrard’s withdrawal from the race last week.

The Light Blues’ new ownership group, along with the incoming sporting director Kevin Thelwell, are expected to make their decision on who will take charge in the coming days before announcing it publicly.

Who is Davide Ancelotti?

Born in Parma, Italy in 1989, Ancelotti has been part of one of the most successful coaching teams over the past decade.

Since 2016, he has worked alongside Carlo Ancelotti as part of the coaching staff at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid.

Davide Ancelotti’s playing career was brief, beginning with AC Milan before moving to Borgomonero in the lower divisions of Italian football.

He retired at 22 and earned a degree in sports science.

Following fitness coach roles at Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Ancelotti obtained his UEFA A License and became an assistant coach at Bayern Munich in 2016.

He then helped his father secure league titles at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, as well as two Champions League trophies at the Bernabeu.
