Marian Shved didn’t enjoy the most successful stint in Celtic colours.

Despite Celtic’s overwhelming dominance, it’s always challenging to match the relentless and formidable pace the team maintains season after season.

In 2019, Celtic acquired Shved from Karpaty Lviv, expecting him to emulate the impact of the many exceptional wingers who preceded him, but he struggled to find his rhythm.

Fast forward to today, and those in green and white colours remain dominant, as the next wave of players arriving will face the same intense pressure.

Celtic have already brought back Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, who is well-versed in the club’s demands, and now, the second signing for the 2025 summer transfer window is nearly complete.

Celtic agree on a transfer fee for Benjamin Nygren:

Shved primarily played on the right wing, and that’s where Benjamin Nygren also prefers to operate, as his move to Celtic nears completion.

Anthony Joseph has reported on social media that Celtic have settled on a fee of ‘£1.7 million’ for Nordsjaelland attacker Nygren – the same amount paid for Shved six years ago.

The Sky Sports journalist also noted that Celtic are now working to ‘finalise’ the transfer for the 23-year-old.

‘UPDATE: Celtic have agreed a fee of £1.7m to sign Nordsjaelland attacker Benjamin Nygren,’ wrote Joseph on Wednesday evening.

‘@SkySportsNews revealed last week that the 23yo verbally agreed terms with #CelticFC and that talks with #FCN were progressing well.

‘Celtic will now look to finalise the move with Nygren.’

Hopefully, when Nygren arrives, he can feature in more than three matches for Celtic, as that was the extent of Shved’s involvement.

Once it became clear that Shved needed to depart, he was loaned to K.V. Mechelen in Belgium before securing a permanent transfer to the club in 2021.

Since then, the Ukrainian winger has returned to his homeland and is now wearing the colours of Shakhtar Donetsk.

However, he only managed 11 appearances this season, including failing to come off the bench during Shakhtar’s Champions League campaign, where they exited via the revamped group stages.
