Nottingham Forest are set to conduct considerable activity before the transfer window shuts in September.

Thus far, Igor Jesus is joining from Botafogo, with agreements for Jair Cunha and Cuiabano from the Brazilian champions also on the horizon.

Anthony Elanga is being connected with Newcastle, but the desire will be for him to stay with the club for at least another season as the Reds aim to push forward once more.

With the club’s loaned players returning to the City Ground, Forest will want to avoid having an excess group form again at the club’s training facility ahead of the new season.

Consequently, there is some effort required when it comes to moving players out of the club this summer.

Andrew Omobamidele set to leave Nottingham Forest:

With a surplus of central defenders accumulating on Trentside, Forest are now prepared to transfer Omobamidele on a permanent basis during the transfer window.

According to DNA Sports in France, Strasbourg are now set to trigger the clause in his loan agreement that allows them to sign him permanently.

Omobamidele arrived at Forest from Norwich on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023, with Steve Cooper strengthening his squad at the last moment.

Interestingly, Cooper never selected him once before he was dismissed in December 2023, before Nuno Espirito Santo began to utilize him slightly in the second half of 2023/24.

Last season, Omobamidele wasn’t receiving any opportunities under the Forest head coach, and with the arrival of Nikola Milenkovic and Morato, he was permitted to join Strasbourg on loan in January.

There, he assisted the club in qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, making 11 appearances for the Ligue 1 team who are managed by former Derby head coach Liam Rosenior.

It’s unclear what fee Forest will recover for Omobamidele, but removing him from the wage budget makes sound financial sense from the club’s viewpoint.

Although every fan desires new players entering the football club, Forest need to move some additional players in the opposite direction.

Harry Toffolo has already departed Forest, with Alex Moreno also returning to Aston Villa after his loan spell concluded.

There will be uncertainty regarding the likes of Marko Stamenic and David Carmo who have spent the season with Olympiacos on loan, whilst Tyler Bindon might go out on loan again after joining from Reading.

The hope will be that losing Omobamidele will trigger a chain reaction and Espirito Santo will hope that an excess group hasn’t developed once again by the close of the summer window.
