NafisaFluminense have had an attempt to secure Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder André firmly rejected by the player’s representatives.
That’s according to Fluminense President Mário Bittencourt, who has disclosed his unsuccessful pursuit himself, in remarks shared by Bolavip.
They report that Fluminense are pushing to recruit top-tier talent for the Club World Cup, which kicks off this month and continues through July. Their ambition is to progress as deep into the competition as possible.
The club have reached out to several high-profile names, including Cristiano Ronaldo, regarding a potential switch, although the Portuguese icon showed no interest despite the lure of featuring in the tournament. There were also rumours linking Neymar with a return.
Another Brazilian on their radar was Wolves midfielder André, and an effort was made to land him this month. That attempt, however, ended ‘unsuccessfully’.
The president confirmed this himself, during an appearance on the Setor Sup Podcast, stating that he contacted the Wolves player’s camp in an effort to lure the 23-year-old back to his previous club.
However, he was left with the understanding that it won’t materialise, stating there is “no chance, unfortunately” of re-signing the midfielder.
That would indicate the midfielder’s entourage were quite decisive about their intentions, and those do not involve Fluminense.
