NafisaNottingham Forest are set to explore the market for several fresh players now that the transfer window is officially open.
The Reds aren’t planning to delay either, with new arrivals already looming. Forest have lined up three talents from Brazilian side Botafogo, with the trio expected to arrive following the Club World Cup.
Igor Jesus has been associated with Forest for some time, with the forward also attracting attention from Arsenal. He’ll be joined by two teammates—left-back Cuiabano and centre-half Jair Cunha.
More additions are expected to follow those three to the City Ground this month. A new central midfielder could be on the agenda, and now, a previously mentioned player has made a major decision about his next step.
Davide Frattesi makes call on future amid Nottingham Forest interest:
The Italian midfielder has now opted to leave Inter this summer following a baffling omission from Saturday’s Champions League final, where he remained on the bench.
Simeone Inzaghi has come under scrutiny regarding Frattesi. According to Football Italia, the player challenged the manager after the final over the weekend to understand why he wasn’t involved at all in Munich.
Frattesi was linked with Forest earlier in the year, with the club eager to reinforce their midfield. Now, the likelihood of securing the player may have increased, and Inter are hoping to bring in £30 million from his departure.
Frattesi’s exclusion over the weekend felt particularly harsh. He featured 13 times in the Champions League as Inter reached another final, but didn’t get the opportunity to feature during the 5-0 defeat to PSG.
Frattesi would be a top signing but Forest might need to offload first:
Bringing in another midfielder wouldn’t be the most logical priority. Ibrahim Sangare finished the season in top form, with Nicolas Dominguez, Ryan Yates, Elliot Anderson, and Danilo all available in midfield.
Frattesi would offer some European pedigree, but at a cost of £30 million, it would limit Forest’s flexibility for additional deals before the window closes.
It was reported back in March that Forest could be keen on £30 million-rated Frattesi, and this recent dispute with Inzaghi might signal the end of his stay at the San Siro, with his exit now seemingly inevitable.
Whether Forest can still persuade Frattesi to join without Champions League football on offer is uncertain, but if they manage to, the 25-year-old would be regarded as a major acquisition.
