Sunderland fans would want to see this —Frank Lampard SPOTTED ‘drowning his sorrows’ after Coventry’s play offs defeat to Black Cats at Stadium of Light amid claims of being the better team over both legs

Coventry City were the team dealt a major blow in the Championship play-offs last night (May 13) as they conceded in the final moments to Sunderland. The Black Cats will now meet Sheffield United at Wembley for the last promotion spot to the Premier League.

It means Coventry, who enjoyed a remarkable run under boss Frank Lampard this season, will have to wait another season for a chance to return to the top tier of English football.

The players – and Lampard himself – looked devastated at the final whistle, only made worse by a Sunderland supporter storming the pitch to snap a cheeky selfie with the former England star.

Now, supporters have spotted Lampard nursing his disappointment in London, just a short walk from the ground where he made his name in the Premier League.

According to onlookers, Lampard dropped into a gastropub in Chelsea for lunch today (May 14). Reportedly visiting the trendy Fulham Road spot with his son, the former Chelsea icon ordered a pint alongside his meal, literally steps away from Stamford Bridge.

To be fair, after such a crushing result, this writer would likely opt for a full-on liquid lunch, so credit to Lampard for actually sitting down to some proper pub food after the Sunderland blow.
