Sky Sports Update —Steven Gerrard has just DONE something unusual that has signified that he’s coming back to Ibrox to become New Manager at the club

Steven Gerrard is once again in contention to become the next Rangers manager as the club’s search for a new head coach takes another unexpected turn.

Steven Gerrard notably departed Rangers for Aston Villa in late 2021, and the Ibrox club haven’t quite found the same stability since the Liverpool icon made his exit.

Davide Ancelotti had been leading the race for the Rangers job, but Sky Sports report that the Real Madrid assistant is merely one of multiple managerial candidates under consideration at Ibrox.

Now, the Gerrard-to-Rangers narrative has taken a new turn after the Anfield great informed former Liverpool teammate Djibril Cisse that he won’t be able to attend a charity match next week.

Djibril Cisse has revealed that Steven Gerrard has withdrawn from a charity football event in France next week.

In a post on Instagram, Cisse confirmed that Gerrard will not be present at the ‘Cisse Jubilee’ on 27th May, where a squad of Cisse All-Stars is set to face a team of Auxerre Legends at the Stade Abbé Deschamps.

Though Cisse did not share specific reasons, the former French international forward stated that Gerrard is expected to miss the occasion due to ‘professional reasons’.

”My disappointment is great but my respect for my captain goes above all. What we lived together in Istanbul 20 years ago will go above and beyond. Big respect captain.”

Steven Gerrard Rangers manager speculation goes into overdrive:

The development will inevitably intensify the Rangers managerial rumours as chatter surrounding Steven Gerrard’s possible return continues to grow.

The Sky Sports update stated that Gerrard is among four leading contenders, alongside Ancelotti, Russell Martin, and Rob Edwards.

TalkSPORT believes Ryan Mason is also being considered.

The revelation involving Gerrard and Cisse is bound to raise eyebrows, as Rangers supporters eagerly await confirmation of who will take charge for the upcoming season.
