NafisaDisappointed Barry Ferguson has asserted that Rangers “didn’t get much” from the match officials during their stalemate with Celtic.
The Light Blues had to accept a draw against the Scottish Premiership champions after Adam Idah’s second-half goal equalized following Cyriel Dessers’ opener at Ibrox.
It was a match filled with action after Andrew Dallas in the VAR room stepped in to disallow a goal by Nicolas Raskin for offside, while Idah’s goal was upheld by the team in Clydesdale House after initially being ruled out by the linesman.
However, the primary controversy arose after Callum McGregor’s collision with Ianis Hagi in the penalty area.
Viljami Sinisalo thwarted Nicolas Raskin, before Hagi tried to seize the rebound near the six-yard box.
Celtic captain McGregor, however, pressured the Romanian midfielder, preventing a shot on goal.
Ferguson and his coaching staff were observed arguing with the fourth official as Hagi received attention following the incident in the penalty area.
When questioned about the incident by Sky Sports, the interim boss said: “The way I look at it is if that is in the middle of the pitch, that is a foul.
“But look, we didn’t get much today so I will just leave it at that.”
But Ferguson’s former Ibrox teammate Kris Boyd dismissed the argument put forward by Ferguson.
He maintains that Hagi was seeking contact and even commended referee Walsh and the VAR team.
Following Ferguson’s interview, Boyd said: “He gets his foot in and then plans that he is not getting it.
“He then stabs his left foot through to try and initiate the contact, but for me it’s not a penalty kick.
“For VAR, and even Nick Walsh, I thought there wasn’t a lot of nasty challenges or people getting carried away.
“It was only in the latter stages that there was a couple of bookings. I think for the officials and VAR, it was a pretty decent day and it’s not very often you say that.”
