NEW MANAGER INCOMING — Rangers submit offer to HIRE Ancelloti as New Manager from Real Madrid with 11 Trophies and probably better than local champion Brendan Rodgers – What do you think about his arrival?

Rangers are widening their hunt for a new head coach ahead of the summer.

The Gers are seeking a full-time manager in preparation for the upcoming campaign when interim boss Barry Ferguson eventually steps aside.

As a consequence, the process is well in motion to identify a successor to the Scot, while the 49ers aim to finalise their acquisition of the Ibrox outfit.

With that in mind, the search has broadened to secure a new head coach, and a client of David Villa has now surfaced as a contender in G51.

The Light Blues have been associated with several managerial candidates, though none appear to be on the verge of appointment in Govan.

This has seen Danny Rohl recently linked, as the well-regarded coach looks likely to exit Sheffield Wednesday once the season concludes.

Naturally, there have also been murmurs about Steven Gerrard, who could be poised for an Ibrox comeback following his troubled stint in Saudi Arabia.

Now, the Gers have reportedly expressed interest in Real Madrid assistant coach, and son of Carlo, Davide Ancelotti.

Corriere dello Sport reported on 11 May (page 24) that the 35-year-old has been approached with multiple offers to become a head coach, with both Rangers and Como named as interested parties.

The assistant manager is represented by former Barcelona icon Villa and seems to be weighing up his options before reaching a definitive choice about his future.

Ancelotti has Rangers proposal under consideration

It’s fair to suggest that the 35-year-old would be something of a wildcard for the Light Blues if he were appointed as head coach.

Ancelotti has served as assistant to his father at the Bernabeu since 2021, during which Los Blancos have secured 11 pieces of silverware.

This pedigree could serve him well in becoming a top-level coach, though there’s no denying he would be a notable gamble.

In contrast to someone like Gerrard, there’s a lack of clarity over what the Real Madrid figure would bring in terms of tactical identity and philosophy, which could be viewed as a risky move for the 49ers and company.
