That’s because a recent report claims that the Gers have entered into discussions with a European coach as they look to finalise their appointment.
The BBC states that ex-Feyenoord boss Brian Priske is a ‘contender’ for the Rangers managerial role.
It’s believed the Dane has ‘held talks’ with Ibrox executives, but he remains just one of several options still under consideration.
Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti has been labelled by a Spanish outlet as ‘close to committing’ to becoming the next Gers manager.
This came after it previously appeared to be a two-horse race between Steven Gerrard and Russell Martin, with Ancelotti seemingly out of the picture.
However, it’s now claimed that no final call has been made, even after confirmation that Barry Ferguson won’t be continuing with the club.
Priske departed Feyenoord in February and was succeeded by former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
He secured 17 wins from 33 games during his spell in the Netherlands, though the club pointed to “inconsistent results and a lack of chemistry” for his exit.
His standout moments came in the Champions League, most memorably when Feyenoord clawed back from 3-0 down in the final 15 minutes to secure a 3-3 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad.
He also orchestrated a 3-0 triumph over Bayern Munich and led the Dutch outfit to 11th in the league phase, although he departed before the knockout stages.
Priske began his coaching journey with Midtjylland in his homeland of Denmark, before moving on to Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
The 48-year-old later assumed the reins at Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic.
He actually came up against Rangers while there, in the Europa League group stage in 2023, when Philippe Clement was managing the Scottish side.
Sparta Prague managed a 0-0 draw with the Gers on home soil, but fell 2-1 at Ibrox in the reverse encounter.
