NafisaThe Rangers board has seen significant transformation following a takeover by a US-based consortium.
Five fresh directors are being brought in while Graeme Park, Julian Wolhardt, and Alastair Johnston are exiting their roles.
Here’s a breakdown of the revamped nine-member board.
Andrew Cavenagh
The incoming Rangers chairman, who headed the investment group, has established three health insurance firms and is presently executive chairman of one, ParetoHealth.
Based in Pennsylvania, Cavenagh holds a degree in economics and was formerly a goalkeeper and captain of his college football team. His passion for the sport has led him to attend “multiple” World Cups and European Championships.
A club release noted: “As a founder and innovator, Cavenagh has decades of experience raising capital and strategically allocating it to build and sustain successful business models. Equally important, he has a proven track record of developing talent by empowering the right people in the right roles to drive results.”
Paraag Marathe
Rangers’ new vice-chairman is also chairman of Leeds United, who recently clinched the Championship title with a club-record 100 points. Marathe launched his sports career as a junior staffer with the San Francisco 49ers.
He currently serves as executive vice-president of the NFL team’s football operations, managing contracts and analytics. He is also president of 49ers Enterprises, the California-based investment division which acquired a stake in Rangers.
Eugene Schneur
Based in Miami, Schneur is a housing developer and also sits on the Leeds board as a co-owner through his ties with 49ers Enterprises. He co-founded a New York housing company that now employs over 800 staff.
Andrew Clayton
Clayton is co-founder and vice-chairman of ParetoHealth. An economics graduate, he brings nearly 30 years of experience from the insurance and risk management sectors.
Mark Taber
Taber is managing director of Great Hill Partners, a Boston-headquartered growth equity firm. He has previously served on the boards of over a dozen healthcare businesses.
Fraser Thornton
The outgoing chairman will retain a seat on the board after being appointed in December last year in anticipation of the takeover. Thornton boasts extensive leadership experience within the beverage industry.
Patrick Stewart
The club’s chief executive, also named in December, is a former commercial lawyer. He started his career with Manchester United, where he spent 18 years and rose to the position of chief executive and director.
John Halsted
An investor based in Wyoming, Halsted will continue as a board member. He was a founding partner at Pamplona Capital Partners and became involved with Rangers in 2021 via his family’s holding company, Perron Investments.
George Taylor
A Glasgow-born investment banker residing in Hong Kong, Taylor has served as a non-executive director since 2022. He has been instrumental in Rangers’ financial restructuring and governance efforts.
